The only energy or oil monopoly in this country is a governmental institutionalized monopoly on our country energy market. The legislative branch has been engaging in anti-competitive energy practices from drilling to building new refineries and much more. They are in clear violation of the

“Sherman Antitrust Act
This Act expresses our national commitment to a free market economy in which competition free from private and governmental restraints leads to the best results for consumers.” http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/contact/newcase.htm#file

Clearly the governmental restraint are in violation of a free market economy and is criminal negligence on the part of the liberal politicians who are the real cartel that profit in taxes more then 3 to 1 to the oil companies that actually work for their money and then have to pay taxes on top of that. So when Oil profits go up the tax revenue increase is 3 times that of the oil companies. So who do you think is the real cartel???

This criminal incompetence of the democrats and legislative politicians anti free market energy economy in allowing American companies to meet American Oil needs is in need of change and with bush opening up offshore drilling it is time that we conservatives take a page from the left wing play book and for us to us the judicial system in upholding our laws and open up drilling.

Why dose the Senate call for investigations on big oil? Because they are trying to transfer the blame off of them by placing the blame on someone else. By placing the blame on the oil companies and keep people from seeing that government is the true problem they are able to offer false hope in an effort to gain more power and money from taxes while eliminating a free market economy in our country and forcing us to send our money to unfriendly Middle Eastern countries.

Why should we drill?
1)	Create more high paying jobs for Americans
2)	Become energy independent and stop sending $700 billion to middle eastern countries that support terrorism
3)	Invest the $700 billion in America
4)	$700 billion is 6% of the yearly US economy, and investing this in America would do what to our economy? Lower inflation and strengthen the US dollar?
5)	Instantly drop the price of oil because oil Speculators like me would invest in commodity producers that provide the product like Exxon, Chevron, BP, Shell, because this is the smart investment. When Oil Speculators transfer investments the Oil price falls on the stock market.

The whole global warming "scare" being foisted on us is based on a complte fabrication of facts that are no where near true. Not only are we (humans) responsible for global warming, it appears that warming is not happening. The latest satelite recording of the earth's global temperature taken in the spring of this year (2008) revealed that the earth is 6/100ths of a degree cooler than it was in 1998. This whole hoax is a designed by the radical left to sieze more power and more of our liberties. They want to control how and where you live, what you drive and every other aspect of your life. Do your research. Gore is heavily vested in alternative energy enterprises and he is making millions and stands to make even more. Think about the idiotic idea od buying carbon credits. How will that reduce emmissions? It is merely another tax and one that will destroy heavy industry in this country.

If each of the Motor Vehicle Bureaus in each state gave out nubers from 1 to 30 for each motorist and when the number pasted inside our windshield came up, WE COULD NOT USE THE CAR THAT DAY except in the case of documentable emergencies, here's what would happen overnight.

1. emissions would be drastically reduced and one hundred million cars would be taken off the road.

2. Traffic would lighten substantially.

3. The accident rate would go down.

4. With decreased demand for gas, the cost of a barrel of oil would decrease.

5. The planet would suffer less global warming.

6. Some Americans would see not driving as part of a patriotic sacrifice to rid ourselves of foreign oil.

7. Some Americans would claim it was a loss of freedom and they would gripe.

8. Most Americans would conform to the rule just as they did in the 70's with the odd even license plates.

9.Milk and other energy related items would return to normal costs.

10. When the price of a gallon of gas dropped enough for comfort, we would lift the ban.

11. Companies would support car pooling.

Having followed the energy situation for over 30 years I can say that I've never seen a poll that didn't show at least 70% of the sample supported more funding for efficiency and renewables over oil, coal, and nuclear. Of course, it has never happened.

Everybody knows what should be done with a few moments of reflection: reduce as much waste energy as possible and transition to renewables wherever possible. But that's not going to happen because our economic system is based upon waste and renewables are seen as unreliable. I say tell it to the couple a few blocks from here who have been getting solar heat from a site-built, volunteer-made solar air heater for the past 30 years. It cost about $250 worth of materials then and has had no maintenance since installation but still works so well that they have to dump the heat outside on sunny winter days.

You want an energy policy? How about a public education campaign built around "Solar IS Civil Defense" and "A south-facing window is already a solar collector"?

The Manhattan Project, the race to the moon were penny-ante projects compared to what we have to do in rethinking our energy infrastructure. Most of what we have to do is self-evident and fairly simple (when was the last time you checked the air pressure in your tires or the air or oil filter?) but almost all of it will require major business interests distress. There's a LOT of inertia and active objection especially when you're proposing to break Exxon-Mobil's rice bowl.

Jimmy Carter was working towards 20% of our energy from renewables by the year 2000. That's the percentage Portugal gets now from wind. We had our chance and blew it. Now we have to pay the price.

Oh, and if you want a goal, why not try zero emissions for size. You know, the way that Deming talked about zero defect on the production line. That would be a goal that would not only do a lot for our energy consumption but the rest of our ecological problems as well.
